P. MARK ACCETTURA
P. Mark Accettura is a practicing attorney specializing in the areas of estate planning and taxation. He is the author of The Michigan Estate Planning Guide, Collinwood Press, 1999, and is a frequent lecturer on estate planning topics. Mark received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Oakland University in 1977, his law degree in 1981 from the University of Detroit/Mercy School of Law, and his Master of Laws Degree (LL.M. in taxation) in 1982 from New York University School of Law.
Mark was an adjunct professor at the University of Detroit/Mercy School of Law from 1984 to 1994, where he taught courses on income taxation, estate and gift tax and pension and employee benefits. Mark hosted Law Talk, a one-hour public access television show seen in 37 cities in southeastern Michigan. Mark's guests include judges, legislators and other legal policy makers.
SAMUEL A. HURWITZ
Samual A. Hurwitz practices in the areas of estate planning, trust and estate administration and Medicaid planning. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Oberlin College in 1978, and graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1981.
Sam became a Certified Public Accountant (Illinois) in 1990, and has earned a Certificate in Financial Planning. Sam has been admitted to practice in all Michigan Courts since 1981, The United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan since 1982 and the United States Tax Court since 1984. STEVEN J. Steven J. Case graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in business administration and applied economics. He is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and a Certified Divorce Planner (CDP).
Steve lives in Michigan with his wife Cheryl and two daughters: Isabella and Alexandra. He is a co-founder and senior partner of Financial Independence, Inc., an independent financial planning firm. He works one-on-one with clients to help them understand their income needs, priorities, and goals, in order to design relevant, achievable financial plans for personal wealth enhancement and asset protection. He plans and conducts financial planning seminars aimed at helping participants reduce taxes, increase wealth and protect their wealth for retirement.
Steve founded a non-profit organization that sponsors outreach programs for widows. The programs included seminars, support groups and a weekly radio program covering topics relating to the loss of a spouse.
Steve is securities licensed with Washington Square Securities to sell stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. He is a Registered Investment Advisor Affiliate of Washington Square's Corporate Registered Investment Advisor. He is licensed in the State of Michigan to sell life insurance and annuities.
DOROTHY E. DEREMO, RN, MSN, MHSA, CNAA, CHE
Dorothy E. Deremo is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Hospice of Michigan (HOM). HOM is the largest statewide not-for-profit end-of-life care company in the nation and provides compassionate palliative care to 900 patients a day. Ms. Deremo has held key nursing administration and hospital executive positions. She has published numerous articles and was a contributing author to two books prior to Lost and Found.
Ms. Deremo graduated from Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing in 1969, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University in 1974 and her Master's Degree in Nursing from Wayne State University in 1976. She completed her Master's Degree in Health Services Administration Program at the University of Michigan in October 1994.
Ms. Deremo is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society for Nursing, and has been active in many professional organizations: The American College of Health Care Executives, National Organization of Nurse Executives, the Michigan Organization of Nurse Executives, and the American Nurses' Association.
In 1986, Ms. Deremo was a Johnson & Johnson/Wharton Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Deremo also was a Health Trust Fellow at the King's Fund College studying the British National Health Service 1995. She is a Diplomat of the American College of Health Care Executives and certified in Advanced Nursing Administration through the American Nurses' Association.
THOMAS LYNCH
Thomas Lynch is the author of Bodies in Motion and at Rest and The Undertaking: Life Studies from the Dismal Trade, winner of an American Book Award and finalist for the National Book Award, and three collections of poetry: Skating with Heather Grace, Grimalkin & Other Poems, and Still Life in Milford. His poems and essays have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, Esquire, Newsweek, Harper's, The New Yorker, The Paris Review, the London Review of Books, and elsewhere. Mr. Lynch lives in Milford, Michigan, where he is the funeral director.
DOREEN BENSON
In Doreen Benson's 26-year career with the Social Security Administration, she held numerous positions including service representative, claims representative, operations analyst, field representative, and public affairs specialist. She served as the official agency spokesperson co-hosting a call-in radio program answering Social Security questions from listeners, and wrote a weekly column in The Detroit News from January 1995 through the summer of 2000.
JAMES M. KNAUS,CLU, ChFC, CFP
James M. Knaus is a Certified Financial Planner as well as a Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, and Licensed Life Insurance Counselor. He has over 31 years of financial planning experience, concentrating in the areas of estate, tax, insurance and investment planning. He serves on the board of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Examiners, Denver, Colorado, and is the board chair for 2001. Mr. Knaus is a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals as well as an adjunct faculty member in the Oakland University Personal Financial Planning Program.
LYNN GROSS, ESQ.
Lynn Gross received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Oakland University in 1987, and her law degree from Detroit College of Law in 1993. Since 1993, Lynn has been admitted to practice in all Michigan Courts, as well as the United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Lynn's practice focuses on estate planning, estate administration, trust administration, estate, trust and gift taxation, and probate. A frequent lecturer on estate planning, Lynn's years as a litigator lend to her probate court and dispute resolution practice. |
